Patrick Poulin - Refugee Conference Testimonial

Patrick Poulin, the Executive Director of IRC in Salt Lake, speaks with LDS Charities about refugee efforts in Salt Lake City, Utah.
When Patrick Poulin became the director of IRC, he met with the head of LDS Charities and asked for $25,000. The LDS Charities director asked Poulin what he would spend that money on and Poulin responded that he needed money to buy beds and furniture and supplies. The LDS Charities director responded that LDS Charities makes beds and asked if he could give IRC and Poulin $25,000 worth of beds, instead of the cash. Poulin readily accepted and the partnership has grown stronger. Today, LDS Charities gives IRC $100,000 each year to purchase beds. LDS Charities also helps deliver vouchers to Deseret Industries stores and commodities from Bishop's Storehouses to help refugees get the supplies that they need. Poulin said that the most beneficial part of partnering with LDS Charities is realizing that refugees are better at the end of the day.
