Cassava Fields

cassava fields
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, cassava is the main source of food. It requires at least 18 months to grow before it can be harvested and ground into flour. This timeframe makes it extremely hard to produce adequate amounts for everyone’s food supply. The Church launched a project that provided training on growing new varieties of cassava that would enable the plant to grow faster. A farm was established in order to teach better techniques. Members of the community each take turns helping in the field so that cassava flour can be more affordable to everyone. They are no longer afraid there will not be enough to eat.
