LDS Charities is proud to join with the Utah Department of Workforce Services and local organizations in Salt Lake City, Utah, to celebrate World Refugee Day. LDS Charities has helped sponsor the celebration for the past two years, and we’re proud to celebrate the hard work and valuable contribution that refugees bring to our community.
The celebration will take place on Saturday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fairmont Park, located at 1040 East Sugarmont Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. The event will include cultural celebrations, a food festival, family activities, and sports competitions featuring teams made up of refugees.
Paul Moody, manager of refugee services at LDS Charities expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support the local refugee community in Utah.
“We’re grateful to support such an important effort,” he said. “One of the signature programs of LDS Charities is supporting refugees, and that includes refugees who are close to home. Adjusting to life in the U.S. is very challenging and we work hard to partner with organizations that help refugees adapt and thrive. We also recognize that refugees enrich our community by sharing their heritage and culture.”
